I can check email and return phone calls daily between 9:45-10:15 AM & 1:45-2:15 PM.

I grew up in Topeka where I graduated from Seaman High School. I received my Associate of Arts Degree from Highland Community College, my Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education and Elementary Special Education from Peru State College, and my Masters Degree in Education from Baker University. I started teaching kindergarteners at Doniphan West in 2012. I previously taught elementary and middle school special education with Doniphan County Education Cooperative for 7-1/2 years prior to that. My learning continues every year with each student I am blessed to teach. Every child I have ever taught continues to be one of "my kids" as I continue to watch them grow and cheer them on from the sidelines. Each and every one continues to hold a piece of my heart, as they forever will.

I was born in California, lived eight years in the jungles of Sumatra Indonesia, then 10 years in Mandeville, Louisiana where I attended and graduated high school. I then moved back to California for a few years. I moved to Highland, Kansas where I have lived since 1985. I received my Associate Degree from Highland Community College, my Bachelor of Science Degree from Missouri Western, and a Masters of Education Degree from Baker University. I started teaching kindergarten for Midway Schools in 1996 and continued to teach kindergarten when the schools merged into Doniphan West. After 27 years of teaching kindergarten, I still love my job and learn new things daily.

In order for your child to check out a book from the library, they need to return the book they previously checked out.

All students need to wear tennis shoes on P.E. days.

Birthday celebrations:

It is a parent choice whether they would like to share birthday treats with one class (15 students) or both classes (30 students), we just ask that you please let us know ahead of time. We usually like to celebrate with treats in the afternoon, usually around 2:30, depending on the day of the week and our specials schedule.
