Doniphan West High School recently hosted "Reality U," an engaging, hands-on financial literacy program designed to teach students about the realities of adult life and the importance of making informed decisions.
Eighth and tenth-grade students took part in the event, where they were given the chance to imagine their lives as 26-year-olds. After completing an online lifestyle survey, students answered questions about their future occupation, marital status, number of children, and current grade point average (GPA). This information was processed through specialized software that generated a personalized life scenario for each student.
The event revealed how challenging and expensive adult life can be, providing students with a firsthand look at managing finances, from paying bills to budgeting for daily expenses. Many students left the event with a deeper understanding of how their current decisions could shape their future.
The success of "Reality U" was made possible by the dedicated community volunteers who staffed the event’s interactive booths and guided students through their financial simulations. A big thank you goes out to all those who generously donated their time to make this educational experience possible!
To learn more about RealityU find them on Facebook @realityuks

Dorothy Diveley and Robbin Garner donated pop tabs to each classroom at DWES for their pop tab grade-level competition. These pop tabs have been collected by the Highland Community Action Team. HCAT collects the pop cans, removes the pop tabs, and then recycles the cans for improvements around Highland. HCAT has used the pop can recycling money to purchase flower pots on Main Street and swinging park benches in the city park on Main Street. If you collect pop cans, please pass them on to Dorothy Diveley. She and the members of HCAT put the cans to good use!
Don't forget that classes at DWES collect pop tabs to donate to the Ronald McDonald House. Keep those tabs coming in.

Good Luck to our Mustangs as they travel to Valley Heights tonight #MustangsPride
