Kindergarten - Harley Howell
Harley is always ready to learn and focused on his work. Lately, his humor has been really showing. He sings out and does his best to learn his songs and become a better singer.
1st Grade - Wyatt Walsh
Wyatt is a good student and a good friend to her classmates. She always participates, has a great attitude, and does a great job listening and following directions.
2nd Grade - Jamie Maendele
Jamie has really opened up this year and has been working hard. He does his best to learn his songs and has really begun to show his sense of humor.
3rd Grade Music - Evangeline Allison
Evangeline is a hard worker who does well at following directions and listening. Each day, you can expect her to do her best.
4th Grade Music - Bennett Geiger
Bennett is a kind and caring student. He cares about his fellow classmates and works hard to make each day the best it can be.
5th Grade Music - Boone Clary
Boone makes every effort to set a good example for others around him. He works hard, is a great leader, and very respectful.
5th Grade Band - Tayla Keller
Tayla has been working hard to do her best and help others this year. She practices her trumpet a lot and is getting very good.
Maddie Hendrix
Maddie works very hard to learn and play the clarinet. She listens carefully and tries to get each song as good as she can. She often asks for help, is quick to put advice into practice, and works until she gets it right.
6th Grade Music - Hadi Idol
Hadi is a good student who does her best daily. Whether it be in music or other classes, she treats her classmates well and tries to set a good example for others.
6th Grade Band - Brynley Wilson
Brynley is a hard-working student who puts in great effort to do her best. She maintains a positive attitude and takes her time to get things right. She pays attention, listens well, and is quick to put any advice given to use.
Junior High Band - Brentten Hollister
Brentten has been working hard to learn new things and has been asking many good questions. He has put in a lot of effort in working out rhythms, as well as taking the time to learn how and properly tune the timpani.
High School Band - Jasmin Trembath
Jasmin is new to the saxophone this year and has been working very hard to catch up. She does her best each day and dedicates a good portion of time to learning. She has been a great addition to the saxophone section.
McKinley Hennigan
McKinley is a strong leader in the saxophone section. She has spent a lot of time this year helping new students learn. She consistently does what is asked and each day works to get better.

Over the past week, Doniphan West 5th-8th grade students stopped by Two Timbers, in Highland, KS, to share their musical talents with the residents. Their performances were well received, and the students said that they had a great time performing and sharing what they had learned. After their performances, they spent some time talking to the residents.

The Doniphan West Music Department would like to announce the April Musicians of the Month.
Kindergarten Music - Gracie Dawes
Gracie is a good student who is always respectful and ready to go. She does great at listening, following instructions, and working to her best ability in any class she is in.
1st Grade Music - Layton Meyers
Layton is a good student with a great attitude and often has a smile on his face. He comes to class ready to go and works hard each day.
2nd Grade Music - Levi Peters
Levi is a good student who listens, follows directions, and works hard daily. He keeps a positive attitude and consistently works to better himself.
3rd Grade Music - Kennidee Lambert
Kennidee is a good student who is very kind, caring, and helpful. She maintains a positive attitude and works hard every day.
4th Grade Music - Jaquelin Trembath
Jaquelin is a good student and a good listener. She works hard to do her best each day.
5th Grade Music - Gatlin Coehlo
Gatlin is a fun student to have in class. He works hard to do well and takes things seriously while still showing his sense of humor.
5th Grade Band - Jace Falk
Jace is a hard-working student who listens and follows directions well. He is a smart kid who works hard to learn the trumpet and shows daily that he wants to get better.
6th Grade Music - Bella Whetstine
Bella consistently does the best that she can on all of her projects and works very hard in class. She does a great job at listening and follows directions.
6th Grade Band - Kolten Adams
Kolten is a hard worker in the band. He has done a great job on the baritone and is becoming a strong leader in his section. He increases his ability daily, learning how to play better, and is willing to be taught.
Junior High Band - Kamdyn Yarsulik
Kamdyn has improved tremendously this year. She works hard to learn her parts and doesn’t quit until she has them correct. She does a great job listening, following directions, and puts what she is taught to use quickly.
High School Band - Derek Blanton
Derek is a great asset to the band. He is a hard worker who always strives to strengthen his playing. He adds strength to the group with all the parts he plays and helps hold things together.

Mr. Brad McCauley shared the importance of technological advancements in farming, discussing both the economic benefits and challenges they bring.
Students loved getting a close-up look at modern farming equipment and seeing firsthand how technology shapes today’s agricultural world.
The 6th grade students selected this year’s contestants, which included Para Melissa Freeman, Bus Driver Dennis Hanlon, 2nd Grade Teacher Andrea Lorenz, retiring 5/6 Teacher Lisa Smith, and 5/6 Teacher Taryn Moore.
The excitement filled the building as students eagerly waited to find out who the “lucky” winner would be. With cheers, laughter, and big smiles all around, they learned that Mr. Dennis Hanlon was the big winner!
It was such a fun and memorable moment for everyone, and the students absolutely loved every second of it. Thank you, Dennis, for being a great sport and helping create such a special memory for our students!
