Leadership means setting a positive example and guiding others in the right direction through actions, choices, and attitude. At Doniphan West Elementary, we are proud to celebrate students who demonstrate outstanding leadership!
Today, we recognized students who have shown what it truly means to be a Mustang Leader. These students lead by example, make thoughtful choices, and help create a positive environment for others.
Students recognized for Leadership:
Kindergarten: Cal Wolvington and Aurora Hurd 2nd Grade: Piper Bryant and Magnolia Allison
Congratulations to each of you! Keep up the great work and continue showing others what it means to be a true Mustang Leader! 🐴💙

KAY Board members recently voted to make a donation to God's Faithful Servants, a Kansas organization, as an international project to meet our gold standard.
"God's Faithful Servants wishes to thank the Doniphan West High School KAY Club for your very generous donation of $300.00 to purchase wheelchairs for children in desperate need of mobility, in Mexico. Two of these wheelchairs are a direct result of your clubs donation!! This delivery will take place in the Summer 2027."

As the final SAFE (Seatbelts Are For Everyone) activity of the year, Doniphan West juniors and seniors attended a county mock DUI crash. Doniphan County first responders along with our Magistrate Judge, County Attorney, as well as state and local partners combined efforts to provide the exercise for students. The exercise was conducted at the Wathena City Park on Friday, March 27, 2026. The exercise was very impactful and a great reminder that impaired driving is a very dangerous situation with true consequences. Thank you to all who participated. Seniors Brooklyn Denton and Jaidyn Smith played roles in the mock event.

Doniphan West Elementary students in grades 3–6 will begin State Assessments tomorrow, April 8–9. Testing will continue during the week of April 15.
State testing can sometimes feel stressful, but with a little preparation and encouragement, students can feel confident and ready to do their very best! Families can help support their child by following these simple tips:
• Get plenty of rest 😴 — Encourage your child to get a good night’s sleep before each testing day so they wake up refreshed and ready to learn.
• Eat a healthy breakfast 🍎 — A nutritious breakfast can help students stay focused, energized, and ready to do their best.
• Offer encouragement 💙 — Remind your child that they are prepared and capable. Encourage them to stay positive, take their time, and simply do their best. A few kind words can make a big difference!
• Arrive at school on time ⏰ — Being on time helps students begin the day feeling calm, settled, and prepared.
• Dress comfortably 👕 — Comfortable clothing can help students feel more relaxed and focused during testing.
We know our students have worked hard all year, and we are proud of them. Let’s work together to help them feel confident and ready to shine!
