FFA Discussion Meet and Jr. High Aggie Days!
Today, 7 Doniphan West High School members participated in the Discussion Meet LDE, and 27 Jr. High Students participated in the annual Perry Aggie Days Event.
The Discussion Meet LDE is an event designed to stimulate logical thinking, develop skills in communication and problem-solving, and engage FFA members in solutions for important topics of today's agriculture industry. The competition will bring 4-6 FFA members to the table at a time to discuss an assigned agriculture topic for 15 minutes.
Rafael Silva placed 6th overall in the event! Other team members were: Grant Boos, Catherine Davis, H'Leigha Idol, and Brooklyn Rawles. Hailey Tracy and Levi Garrison served as round moderators and helped to lead the event.
The Jr. High Aggie Days event brought almost 300 area Jr. High members to participate in hands-on agriculture and career-based workshops. Members also competed in the Ag Identification Quiz Bowl, which earned them agricultural prizes for their knowledge!
A successful and knowledge-filled day for our members! Way to Go!

Business Professionals of America members visited Shatto, a dairy farm and country store, outside Osborn, Missouri, on Thursday, December 7th. Students met with the owner and learned about the handling of raw materials, packaging, production of their products, branding, and how they use direct-sale channels to distribute their goods. Before leaving, they got to taste-test the products and purchase some to take home.

A door decorating contest has been held at DWES to celebrate the holiday season! Nearly every classroom participated with a fun door! First place was awarded to Preschool, who designed their door with a snow globe. Second place was awarded to the second grade, who decorated with an "Elf" movie theme Third place was awarded to Mrs. Smith's 5th grade class, who designed a "Chemis-tree" door. Honorable mention was given to Mrs. Moore's 6th grade classroom, who constructed an amazing gingerbread house! All doors turned out awesome and the judges had a very difficult time choosing just a few winners!

The 5th Graders raised $2,111.82 to help purchase Christmas presents for the Doniphan County Sheriff’s Department’s Christmas Drive. The students were divided into teams and learned about budgeting their money to buy items at Walmart and the importance of raising money for an important cause. The Sheriff’s Department came to the school, and the students helped load their vehicles with gifts.

The Elementary Christmas Concert was enjoyed by all. Thank You, Mr. Stroud for a great evening.
