Doniphan West Jr./Sr. High School proudly hosted its Third Annual First Responders Day today, bringing together multiple agencies to provide students with hands-on learning experiences and valuable safety education.
Throughout the day, students rotated through interactive stations led by the Doniphan County Sheriff’s Department, Kansas Highway Patrol, Kansas Game Wardens, Highland Fire Department, Kansas Army National Guard, EMTs (Basic CPR), and the Highland Police Department led by Chief Dustin Winters. Each agency shared demonstrations, insights into their work, and guidance for students on community safety and service.
In addition to agency rotations, students attended “BeAlert” presentations from The Stop Trafficking Project, an important program designed to educate and empower youth to protect themselves and their peers in online and real-world situations.
Principal Chris Lackey expressed his appreciation for the strong community support:
“We are grateful for the dedication of each agency and presenter who gave their time today. Their willingness to connect with our students not only builds awareness but also strengthens the bond between our school and those who serve our community every day.”
Doniphan West extends a sincere thank you to all presenters and agencies who volunteered their time and expertise to make this year’s event meaningful and impactful for students.
