Dorothy Diveley and Robbin Garner donated pop tabs to each classroom at DWES for their pop tab grade-level competition. These pop tabs have been collected by the Highland Community Action Team. HCAT collects the pop cans, removes the pop tabs, and then recycles the cans for improvements around Highland. HCAT has used the pop can recycling money to purchase flower pots on Main Street and swinging park benches in the city park on Main Street. If you collect pop cans, please pass them on to Dorothy Diveley. She and the members of HCAT put the cans to good use!
Don't forget that classes at DWES collect pop tabs to donate to the Ronald McDonald House. Keep those tabs coming in.

The 5th grade had the pleasure of welcoming guest speaker Mike Kelley, Museum Director of the Iowa and Sac and Fox Mission Museum, to enhance their study of Native American history. Mr. Kelley shared his expertise on the history of the Iowa Tribe, showcased authentic artifacts, and led the students in a hands-on activity to create a bull roarer. The opportunity to see their curriculum come to life will be a memorable part of their educational journey. We are grateful to Mr. Kelley for taking the time to visit DWES and provide such a valuable and engaging experience for our students.
