D-West Band with Mr. David Reiter

On Friday, February 24, 2023, the Doniphan West High School Band had the privilege of working with guest, Mr. David Reiter.

Mr. Reiter shared his time, and wealth of musical knowledge, to give students many tips on how to become better musicians, play together as a group, and to feel the music rather than just play the notes.

Mr. Reiter has 35 years of teaching experience. In 2019, he retired from the Mound City R-II school district in Mound City, MO. During his time there, he directed current Doniphan West Band Director, Mr. Curtis Stroud, and is the reason Mr. Stroud decided to become a teacher.

Mr. Reiter currently resides in Highland, KS, with his wife Ruth. They can often be found performing with various groups around the area. Mr. Reiter plays trumpet and Ruth plays French horn. Mr. Reiter currently works at the Highland Public Library.

To leave you with a quote expressed to the D-West Band, “You may be right, but I’m Reiter!”

Thank you to Mr. David Reiter for sharing your time and expertise.
