Veteran's Day Assembly

Master Sergeant Eric Tracy is pictured at the Veterans Day assembly with his wife, Crystal, and his daughters Aliza, Emily, and Hailey.

Doniphan West Jr./Sr. High School recognized Veterans Day and honored local veterans on Monday, Nov. 11, with an assembly of veterans and their family members, community members, administration/faculty/staff, and students in grades seven through twelve.

The program, hosted by the D-West KAY Club, included patriotic music, a POW/MIA remembrance, the introduction of guest veterans, and a patriotic video that included photos of students' family members and friends who are veterans.

The special guest speaker was Master Sergeant Eric Tracy, who is a member of the 139th Airlift Wing in the Missouri Air National Guard based in St. Joseph, Mo.

Tracy enlisted in 2002 and became a C-130 aircraft hydraulics systems mechanic. He has been on 16 deployments in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Inherent Resolve, Operation Joint Forge, Sabre Junction, Operation Jump Start, Coronet Oak and multiple state emergency response missions.

Some excerpts from Tracy's message are as follows: "We are here today to honor our service members and to remember the sacrifices they have made and the courage it takes to defend honor, duty, and country. We're here to honor our heroes, to remember their achievements, their courage, their dedication, and to say thank you."
