Student Driver Education Information

UPDATE

It has just been brought to our attention that they will be putting a new roof on the building in Elwood this summer.  Therefore, this class will be in WATHENA, at the high school in the multipurpose building.  Come in the south white doors, specifically the two doors to the far left as they enter the building will be unlocked. The first day of classes is on Tuesday, May 31 at 8:00 a.m.

Dear Potential Driver Education Students and Parents/Guardians,

At 6:30 pm (all meetings):  (only need to attend one)

Tuesday, March 15th at Elwood MS (Small Gym)

Wednesday, March 16th at Wathena HS (Cafeteria)

Thursday, March 17th at Troy HS (Cafeteria)

Wednesday, March 23rd at Doniphan West (Commons)

Wednesday, March 30th at Wathena (HS Cafeteria)

There will be mandatory informational meetings in regards to Drivers’ Education for the summer term for students. It’s required that if a student plans on enrolling in Driver Education that the parent and student attend one of these meetings due to the complexity of the Driver Education paperwork through the state and the laws involved with obtaining a driver’s license.

At these meetings, I will provide the USD #114 Driver Education Policies and Requirements and the Performance Based Criteria to help you understand some of the requirements of the course.

The DE-99 is a complicated form that MUST be filled out in front of the instructor correctly and signed by student in order to receive their instructional permit (which is necessary for the student to complete the behind the wheel competencies.) This MUST be filled out at the meeting and turned in with $4.00 fee for processing by the April 29th deadline.

Hopefully, this information helps answer some of the questions and concerns that you may have in regards to the course. I will be able to answer all other questions at the meetings.

Thank you for your time,
