Winter Royalty 2021
DWHS is set to celebrate Winter Royalty week Jan. 25-29. Throughout the week, the students are encouraged to participate in dress-up days and class contests; on Friday, students will decorate the gym and play glow-in-the-dark volleyball; and then the crowning of a queen and king is scheduled to be during half time of the boys' varsity game versus Blue Valley.
The candidates are Naomi Libel, Sadie Leach, Joscelyne Keller, Kalab Ridout, and Jacob Lackey.
Below are the candidate profiles.
Sadie Leach is the daughter of Aaron and Marti Leach. She has two sisters, Payton and Heidi, and one brother, Cooper. Throughout high school, Sadie has participated in volleyball, basketball, track, FFA, Student Council, KAY Club, and National Honor Society. She is a member of the Highland Christian Church. Sadie enjoys spending time with family, friends, and her boyfriend Riley; watching Netflix; and online shopping. After high school, Sadie plans to attend college. Her major is undecided.
Joscelyne Keller is the daughter of Jolene Anderson and Rob Keller. She has three older brothers, Justin, Alex, and Denny. Throughout high school, she has been class president and a KAY Club board member. She has participated in Student Council, Student Advisory, National Honor Society, volleyball, and dance. Joscelyne spends most of her time either working or being with her boyfriend, Gabe. After high school, Joscelyne plans to attend the University of South Dakota in Rapid City to get her bachelor’s degree in nursing and then attend chiropractic school on the East Coast.
Naomi Libel is the daughter of Danny and Lora Libel. She has three brothers, Brandon, Dillan, and Jacob. Throughout high school, Naomi has participated in FFA, KAY Club, cheer, and dance. In her free time, she enjoys hanging out with her brothers and watching movies. After high school, Naomi plans to attend KU to major in nursing and eventually become a neonatal nurse practitioner.
Jacob Lackey is the son of Kevin and Carla Lackey. He has a younger brother, Michael. Throughout high school, Jacob has participated in football and wrestling. In his free time, he enjoys riding his motorcycle and watching football. Jacob plans to become a pipeline welder after high school.
Kalab Ridout is the son of Clifford and Teresa Ridout. He has an older brother, Clayton. Kalab has participated in pep band for six years. After high school, he plans to attend the electrical program at Highland Community College Technical Center and then become a certified electrician.
