Suicide Awareness & Prevention Month
September is Suicide Awareness & Prevention Month. Doniphan West Jr./Sr. High School students are participating in various awareness & prevention activities this week to address this difficult topic. Earlier this week, students watched a video (linked below) and learned some strategies to help people who might be considering suicide. They also received a bookmark with the Crisis Text Line phone number. Today, students enjoyed a competitive game of Coping Skills Bingo during Guided Studies and won some neat prizes! Later this week, students will have the opportunity to download the "My3" app on their cellphones to identify coping skills and create a safety plan. They will also be challenged to write positive affirmations for their peers to hang on their lockers.
To all Doniphan West students & families - you are important to us and we are always here to help. If you are struggling with your mental health, reach out to a parent, friend, sibling, counselor, doctor or teacher. You can also get 24/7 help by texting the Crisis Text Line at 741-741. If it's an emergency, call 911.
