D-West vs. Troy
The Doniphan West seniors played their last home game Tuesday night and were able to walk out of the gym with a win. Seniors Tynan Bollinger and Jeffrey Watts had great underclassmen support to thank for the tremendous team effort it took to come out on top, 59-58, in overtime against the Troy Trojans. Doniphan West and Troy competed at the 321A State Wrestling Tournament in Hays on February 27th and 28th. Troy senior Tristan Speer captured the state championship at 195lbs for the 2nd consecutive year. Last week, the Lady Mustangs took a 10-1 lead at the end of the first quarter, but Troy scored 16 points in the second quarter to take a 17-16 lead into half - time. In the final half of the close contest, the Doniphan West Lady Cagers were able to score 17 points while holding the Lady Trojans to 10 to secure a 33-27 victory. . . .

Horton Powerlifting Meet
Wade Joyce, D-West Junior, enjoyed a great day at the Horton powerlifting meet on February 21 by bringing home two medals in the 220 lb. weight class. The Mustangs started out the week playing their best half of basketball on the year so far. The Lady Mustangs found three players in double figures as they picked up a home win against Onaga, 57 – 43. Regan Gibson led the team on the offensive and defensive end with 19 points, 12 rebound, 5 blocked shots and 9 deflections. 4th Place in the Oregon Trail League
On Thursday, February 5 th the Doniphan West Middle School Basketball team completed their season with a 4 th place earning in the OTL. The team had two 8 th graders that lead the team with great leadership’s skills. Camryn Bollinger led the team in rebounds and Abby Joyce was the 3 rd leading scorer for the mustangs. . . .
